Ricky Tims Master Class Lectures
AM Session 10:30 - 12:00: Quilting Caveman Style and Convergence Quilts
Description: This session kicks off with a lively dive into Ricky’s roots and the joyful rebellion of free-form, improvisational patchwork. Say goodbye to rigid rules and let your creativity run wild as you embrace spontaneous piecing and artistic freedom – no patterns, no stress, just pure quilting fun.
Then, get ready to fall head-over-heels for Convergence Quilts – easy to make, visually striking, and downright addictive. These dynamic designs unfold like a mystery, surprising you with their elegance and energy. Once you’ve seen how a simple concept creates such magic, you’ll be itching to experiment with new fabrics. While the original makes a stunning wall quilt, the technique scales beautifully to any size you dream up.
PM Session 1:00 - 2:30: LocoMotion and Gridified Art Quilts
Description: Explore movement, rhythm, and dynamic design in this session focused on bold, original, and artful quilts that truly change how you think about quilting. You’ll learn how to create precision-pieced curves - without pins - through an accessible method that opens the door to everything from classic patchwork to edgy, avant-garde compositions. Even if Locomotion isn’t your usual style, the techniques here can be applied to future projects across the quilting spectrum.
To wrap things up, we shift gears into Gridified Art Quilts – a refreshingly artistic approach rooted in traditional patchwork. This process-based method is perfect for traditionalists looking for new inspiration, as well as for rule-breakers eager to push the envelope. Your quilt will be striking and original, but the foundation is comfortably familiar – simple, structured, and surprisingly fun.
